Make a birthday trading card of someone you love
A birthday card gets read once. A legendary card of the birthday person gets sleeved, framed, and brought up at every party.
Make their card →The best birthday gifts prove you pay attention. A custom trading card does exactly that: the stats are their real superpowers ('Finds parking: 9', 'Group chat response time: 10'), the flavor text is an inside joke, and the legendary rarity says what you think of them without getting sentimental about it.
It takes about fifteen minutes, costs nothing to design, and you can hand it over as a link, a print, or — maximum effect — inside a pack they have to open.
How to do it
Pick the frame that fits them
Classic for the fantasy hero treatment, Ornate if they deserve ceremony, Neon if they'd rather be a cyberpunk agent, Sports if the joke is their five-a-side career.
Use a photo with their face clearly visible
Zoom so they fill the art window. The subject-breakout effect (their head over the frame border) is the single biggest 'how did you do this' moment.
Write stats only they could have
Three or four is plenty. Real, specific, affectionate. 'Power: 8' is generic; 'Sunday lasagna: 10' is a gift.
Set the rarity to legendary and add foil
Everyone understands what it means to be someone's legendary. The holo shimmer on the reveal is the moment.
Deliver it as a link, a print, or a pack
Send the share link, or print at standard card size and sleeve it. For the full ritual, build a tiny set and let them pull their own card from a pack.
Small things that make it great
- Flavor text beats stats — one line only they will fully get
- Legendary means more when the rest of the friend group's cards are rares
- Print two: one to gift, one for them to 'trade' back to you
