Pet cards are the gateway drug of custom card making: everyone has the photos, everyone knows the pet's 'moves', and the result is instantly shareable. The creature-card templates — HP in the corner, attack lines with energy pips — were practically made for a cat with opinions.

The formula: a good photo, an element that matches their personality (fire for the chaotic ones, water for the mellow ones), two attacks named after real behaviors, and a retreat cost that tells the truth about whether they come when called.

How to do it

01

Choose a creature frame

Pocket Monster for the nostalgic look, Evolution TCG for the modern one with an element badge. Both take HP, attacks, and a big art window.

02

Pick the photo where they look most like themselves

Mid-yawn, mid-zoomie, or regal on the windowsill. Crop tight; personality beats composition.

03

Name their real attacks

'Quick Nap — restore all HP.' '3AM Sprint — wake all sleeping players.' The attacks are the whole joke; spend your time here.

04

Set HP and element honestly

90 HP for a sturdy cat, 40 for a hamster. Fire/water/grass by temperament. The retreat cost is a personality test.

05

Make it an evolution line

Kitten → cat → The Elder: three cards, same element badge, escalating rarity. A binder page of the trio is the endgame.

Small things that make it great

  • Holo rare for the pet, commons for their toys — instant set
  • The flavor text is their dex entry: 'It stalks the cooling lava fields at dusk' but for your hallway
  • Pet cards are the best gift for the pet's co-parent
